Dublin Bus ticket discounts in city

Dublin Bus commuters are being offered money off shopping, eating out, days out and pampering in the run-up to Christmas. From today, prepaid ticket holders will receive discounts for four consecutive Thursdays.

Shopping offers include up to 20 per cent off at Clerys department store and a 10 per cent discount at Tower Records, Chapters and Champion Sports.

The offer also covers over a dozen city centre restaurants.

The Wax Museum, Dublin City Tour and Dublin Zoo have discounted days out while David Marshall is offering €10 off hair cuts. See www.dublinbus.ie/ticket-thursdays

Might have been a good idea to kick off this offer when the bus gate was introduced rather than nearer the time when it will be abolished

It's not abolished totally - it's still operational in the mornings.

This is very much the sort of thing that Dublin Bus and the city centre businesses should be engaging in. The message needs to be driven home that the city is open, accessible and that public transport is the way to access it.

Hopefully in the New Year this sort of promotion will be reignited.

Incidentally, I have noticed that there is new signage being erected for some of the access routes to public car parks around the city centre, something that Dublin City Council did not address fully in advance of implementing the bus gate.

Certainly there is a €20 five day ticket. The 5 days need not be consecutive.

Actually theres a Rambler 1 Day Adult for €6.00, but you'd want to be using hte bus fair bit to break even.
