My mates 5 year old son has started doing judo in school in dublin (a french school).
The kid loves it and the father was wondering if both he and his son could join a gym who'd take on a 5 year old.
    South Dublin preferably.
    Thanks.

Can't recommend any specific clubs, as I only moved here recently myself, but a lot of (most?) judo places will have classes for very young children, 4-5 up. Thing is, these classes are very different to classes for older kids/adults, and concentrate on developing gross-motor control through tumbling, etc., and on getting kids used to paying attention and taking instruction. As such they're not the kind of classes where you'll get adults mixed in with kids.

I don't know anywhere on the southside of Dublin, sorry.

But most Judo clubs also cater for children, however I'd safely say its NEVER on the same mat as the adults, it would simply be too dangerous.

Like Cowzer said, its good to see a dad involved.

Where on the southside are they?.

Reason I ask if that if you can't find a Judo class there are lots of very good BJJ classes running on the Southside which both Dad and child can get involved in and which are equally just as challenging and fun.
