Im a second year in NUI reading arts, recently some close family members passed away, along with a few other things. Ive been diagnosed with depression, and reciving treatment. I was late starting collage and worked for few years before hand. Im now 23, I thinking off defering colage for a year. Ive spoken with the student union and there dosent seem to be a problem wih defering. But Im worried what Im going to do for money. I have been working over the summer. But im not working now. I will also have o repay my grant. Im very worried about money. I dont know if I qualify for social welfare. Some one metioned I might be better off getting a sick cert when I apply for welfare.

Thing is if your depressed you will probably be worrying about something all the time. Have a chat with your family about money if you can.
Or whatever is on your mind , if you keep it bottled up you will prob prolong your depression.

Hey OP, you may be eligable for Disablity Benefit if your doctor will certify you. Have a chat with your GP and call into your Local Social Welfare office and tell them your situation, they'll outline your options and then you'll be in a better position to make up your mind.
