Laptop graphics / Dell upgrade schedule?

I'm looking to upgrade my work laptop but also get something with a half decent graphics card so I can do a spot of gaming in my spare time ;).

I'm limited to choosing a Dell and this one fits the bill:

    - Dell Vostro 1720 NB

    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=ie&cs=iebsdt1&kc=N4X17203&l=en&m_30=143330&oc=N1117207&rbc=N1117207&s=bsd

17" screen (bulky), but doesn't need to be too mobile as it will be sitting on my desk most of the time. I mainly need to for multi-tasking (up to 4 or 5 MS Office apps running at the same time) plus I will be using it for some 3-D CAD. 4GB RAM and Windows 7 sounds good.

It comes with a 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600M GS graphics card which is decent enough I suppose for running most games with medium settings.

I suppose my question is how often do Dell upgrade the graphics card offering with their business laptops? Would I be as well waiting until the new year when a better card comes along? Or are there better graphics card options if I was to go for a Dell Studio 15 (smaller screen though)? My budget is around €600-700 ex-VAT.

The Studio 15 with ATI 4570 is about par with the 9600M GS. No real advantage in terms of graphical power.

The Studio 1747 with ATI 4650 should be a fair whack faster than a 9600M GS though, and I think you could get one in your budget. Its not sold in the Business section though, im not sure if thats an issue for you.
