I'm lookinf at buying a 530d m sport 2000/2001 just wondering is there anything I should be looking for and what kind of money should I be paying.

Also would they run on homemade biodiesel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Prolly better asking that on a more specialised forum, US or Europe shouldnt really mater if the fuel is upto scratch. I would suggest you buy good quality BioDiesel and test that in increasing blends with Diesel before you make your own and throw it in.
As Im sure you know you will have to change Fuel Filters a while are running BioD as well as somewhat more frequently as part of routine maintenance. You should also run a good quality fully synth motor oil.

What would scare me more on the 530D is swirl flap failures.

Smashing car. Ours has nearly 100k miles on it and drives flawlessly.

Check this thread for things to look out for.

I'll be fixing a vapour barrier in the rear driver side door this week. A certain dealership off the M50 diagnosed a bust window regulator a while back and I suspect they simply stuck the membrane back without using new glue. To check for this problem, open the rear doors and check for water running out form under the door. Also check for damp carpets in the back. Easy to fix.

If you're looking for an excellent main dealer then conlans in rathangan is the best I have come across.

    Good Luck.

btw. theres a lovely one on donedeal (not mine) that I flagged up on a recent thread re: someone taking on a new long commute.
