never had a problem with customs so far, only had items stay a day or so to be chrono'd then sent on.

I voted option 2 but to elaborate.

I had a tac vest sent for ballistic testing, took around 11 days to sort out.

I have had 2 Eotechs stopped and seized, asking for firearms license. Explained the situation then had to wait another 10 days as they did not believe that my eotech cost 70 euro, took pain and aggro but eventually got it sorted.

A box of magazines for my old G36c was also sent for inspection, because obviously the guys who checked it first felt a bullet could fit into the little 6mm hole in the mag.

I really want a pistol that I can only get online, and I'm just so reserved over it because i know with my luck I'll get another mong dealing with me

Its a shame considering that if they only spent 5mins doing a google
on the store that the products came from (that would be on the paperwork/invoice)
that they could check out the Prices and descriptions themselves.

5 Mins X How many packages a day?

Quicker and easier for them to look at the invoice, if there's a price,it gets calculated, if not, they send out a standard letter requesting an invoice from the recipient.

Sorry I had ment with regards to sending something for testing or the the Gardai
rather than just something being held for vat/tax/duty.

In my case on the phone from Customs they had looked at paperwork, opened the pacakge and could not find anyplace that said the power level and sent it straight to the gardai. They took the time to do all of that.
When I rang them up they said they would have released it if they had known.
If they took the time to send my package to the Gardai they could have just as easily
have taken a quick google. Point taken though about about X times the amount of packages they have to deal with.

contact them, inform them it is wrong, you will need to supply a correct invoice/receipt that would correspond to the order

Not until 1st of Jan so if you are thinking of getting something you would want to be doing it soon. But look at the poll first and decide if you want to chance it.;)

Lol. 10 days to build the cannon to shoot it out of, 20 hours to figure out the trajectory to the target at end of 50 foot cannon, 20 minutes to realise that you probably didn't have that in mind when you bought it.

I'll save my vote until my sight comes in, but I've gotten in a laser sight and a mate of mine bought some similar stuff online with no hassle yet :)

That happened to me too, not Airsoft though. You're better off not using Fedex at all. I think they overcharge. Watch out though, I didn't pay my €20 bill immediately and in a couple of weeks they I was getting threatening letters from a collection agency. So I strung them out for a month or two getting increasingly threatening letters. When I judged it had probably cost them more than the €20 in effort. I finally paid it and told them they had lost a customer with their attitude.

Don't use Fedex, they're not worth it.

I've never had any trouble with fedex myself. Always been UPS that gets me nailed for duties.

The last airsoft item I bought was a while ago now. A JAC l1a1. Had to forward them on an invoice (In this case it was a screenshot of the ebay auction). Seemed to do the trick though.

Yeah the same sh!t happened to my sister with Fedex. She got the threatening letters as well. They stopped when me and my brother had word with the guy sending them out. :)

Yeah UPS is pretty terrible as well, I won't use either of them.

Well I got my M4A1 Gbb yesterday in the post with no problems at all only that I had to pay the duty which was €37.00. Including the cost of the gun it came to €166.00 which I think is great value.

Next year will be a very sad one for me, I love waiting on the post for my parcels, kinda like when I was a young lad waiting for Santa but all that will end on the 1st Jan:( I sure there's a lot of people like me that will miss that part of it, not to mention that there's so much stuff you just cant get here in Ireland and if you do It a good few quid more than ordering it abroad. BTW I'm not having a go at the retailers here in Ireland, I think they provide a great service, there's just something about waiting for postie to arrive with my present.:D
