Who are these people and where are they?
I am a retired Aer Lingus employee and am getting an Aer Lingus pension on which I pay PAYE.
I registered for Paye Online and got my PIN etc.
I recently decided to put in a claim for Med. expenses for '06, '07 and '08.
When I logged in all my details and profile were correct, but when I tried to access my 2006 year I was told I did not have access as I had another income.
I am and have been a named director of my son's company since 2006 but have no income from that.
How can that effect my PAYE status?
I emailed Navan thinking that was my local tax centre (which it was up to and including 2005) but got a reply from esepaye@revenue.ie.
    Who are they?
I am completely locked out now - wont accept my online login.

Thanks for that information. The email I got was unsigned with no address. I am in Drogheda so I wont be calling in to see them. I still cant understand (and got no explanation) as to why I am out of the Paye system as I still have my monthly tax deduction and have not been asked for any self-assessment.

I would think it would be because of your Directorship, even though there is no income taken. Maybe give the lo - call phone number a shout to double check.

It seems to have all started in 2005 when my son decided to form his own IT company. He needed a named Director besides himself and put me in there. I never realised this was going to elevate me into the Self-Assessed catagory.
He registered his Company in Dublin and I was Paye registered in Navan. Looks like Navan and Dublin do'nt pool information.

    Revenue districts are separate.

If you are a director of a company you are automatically self assessed and need to file a return.

I was never warned about that. I hope I am not fined for failure to file returns even though I have been paying the tax on my pension. Does this mean I will continue to pay PAYE on my pension but have to file a separate return for my nonexistent Director's salary?

I think I have this sorted now. Apparently it was decided in 2005 that I was now among the self-assessed and taken out of PAYE. Still ca'nt understand why, in that case, I continued to have paye tax taken monthly.

Between ESE and Navan they seem to have been both claimed me as a source of tax.

I found out that, as a director you must have more than 5% shares (I think that's the percentage) in the company to be classed as self-assessed. I have none.

I'm back in the paye system now since 2006 but still have not got my PIN.

Now, with so many people filing income tax claims, I hope I get my PIN before the coffer is empty.

    Revenue districts are separate.

If you are a director of a company you are automatically self assessed and need to file a return.

Not if you are a non proprietary director, if you own less that 15% of shares you dont have to be IT registered
