What are we going to call this era

We have all read about the different times, the 20s, the 30s, the 40s, the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, so, back then what did they call the years before the 20s? Ive never heard of them being referred too? The 10s? surely not?

And following on from that what are they going to call the decade we're living in now in years to come? the Naughties??:pac:

Seriously, what was 1910 referred to as, and what will we refer to 2000 and 2010 as?

I can handle 2020 as it will probably be just called the new/modern 20s or maybe just the 20s if the period of history being discussed is obvious....

So come on, hit me with it, should I rush off and concoct names for these or has someone beat me too it?

Think of it wrote in text too, the ''twenties'' sounded right, the naughties ,or zeros doesent......

You know what I mean.......talk to yer dad or granddad for some 40s and 50s speech demo lark....

I spelt naughties that way on purpose to some what try and bring humour to the possible situation but obviously it dident work....

Does anyone not find this unusual as to what these few years past and coming are going to be referred to as?

I don't know but I hope I won't be referring to it thus: "Yes son, that was before the IMF took over. Back then I lived in an apartment of my very own. Here budge up in the cardboard box, you're hogging the dry spot."

    ^ That.

Turn of the century sounds about right tbh, it's what they'd say for the beginning of any other century.

Suppose it could be "turn of the millenia," too..

In that case you must have been clinically depressed, because the past decade was as good as they're going to come.

Music was shíte though, but sure thats trivial.

Naughts was the contemporary term for the first decade in the 1900s according to the infallible wikipedia. We should use what they use, sure what did early 20th century people ever do wrong?

This needs to be decided and fast people! If we find a name for the next decade, the end of the world in 2012 might not happen!

It had its moments. But its the same way as people from the 80's look back. Not great, had its share of shít moments. suppose we could say 2008-12 will be muck.

Perhaps we should call it the era when we found out how much suffering

the catholic church, garda siochana, fianna fáil(in goverment for most of the time) caused to defenceless children.

    The Awakening Years.

Open your eyes and ears years

Watch what their doing years and not what they tell us to do years.

    Hypocrites unmasked years

And pretty obviouslyl the next ten years are going to be the 'Teens'.

Will Kevin Arnold ever score Wendy ? And what the hell does he see in that chick anyhow ? And who cuts her hair into the ridiculous fringe ? Who names their kid Wendy ? These and many more questions will be answered after theses messages from our sponsors.....

I would have thought an era was more than a decade.

The era we're in is the digital revolution. We probably can't see it but the world and especially human society is changing rapidly and, massively. We're going to have to abandon old ways and change the way we do things soon enough. It just a matter of how violent that change will be.
