I have an old road bike frame up for grabs. Its 60 euro. Its a large frame, you would need to be about 6'0" for it to be comfortable. Forks and headset included.

Only problem is I am going away on a holiday this evening, the first available opportunity I'd have to give it to you would be Sunday week, i.e. the 22nd.

Posted up here, PM'd him/her too, no response.

Anyone else needs a large frame, let me know.

@flickerx- I am interested in this frame. Just the frame? Didn't come with any bits? 126mm spacing I presume?

You could do with another bike, I actually feel sorry for you coming on here reading about all the bikes eveyone has. It must be heartbreaking for you.

I have an idea in the back of my head to do L'Eroica next year. They used to have a modern bike category but they have tightened it up now and only pre-1987 tech is allowed, so clips and straps, downtube shifters, non-aero brake cabling, mandatory moustache, etc.

@blorg Looks exactly like something I've wanted to do for ages. Is this the only event of its type?

Me too. (& I've roped a friend in.)

We are starting to hoard old bits 'n' pieces but have also started the search for complete bikes.

I will PM you with anything interesting. What frame size are you after?

    ~58cm, cheers.

@Harrybelafonte- it is the only one I am familiar with, certainly the biggest. I am sure there are smaller ones. There used to be one in the US modelled on the Italian one but I don't think it is run any more.

I actually think I'm going to work towards this. Need to research how to date frames etc? Oh days of fun on eBay with this

You don't need to worry about dating the frame, a steel frame made this year is acceptable.

The rule is the tech has to have been in general use pre-1987, not that your actual bike had to be made pre-1987.

"General use" pre-1987 in their interpretation excludes clipless pedals, STI levers, or aero brake cabling.

Okay, got it. My excuse to go out and buy a De Rosa frame is useless now.

The TdF is general use, right?

No, it's not. Hinault won the Tour using clipless pedals in 1985 but they are not allowed in L'Eroica.

Sounds like a great event. I have some old suntour derailleurs if anyone wants them.

Ah memories. My first racer had a suntour derrailleur. Built it myself at the age of 14 and then broke in the new leather saddle on a three-day tour of Connemara...
