Not looking for any medical advice folks just some information.

The other half is worried that she's loosing her hair. Personally I think there is nothing wrong and it's natural but she doesn't see it that way. Her Polish doctor checked hormone levels and they came back fine. She then went to an Irish doctor, got some blood tests done and they came back fine as well.

So is there some sort of specialist she can go to, some clinic? If so can anyone give me the details/names.

    Much appreciated.

Somebody specialising in Trichology is probably what you're looking for. Or a dermatologist would be able to help also. Not uncommon to have a sort of 'shedding' at occasional times of the year tho; usually coincides with a change in the weather. It is a bit disconcerting tho.

I have had this problem for years, please belive me when I say urine is the cure, its full of good vitamins and really does the trick. Pour some on your head in teh shower, leave for a wile and wash hair as normal, just g00gle it and see what to do. This with good hair vit tablets worked for me. It really is depressing because I have had this problem for maybe 2 years and its just fixing itself now. Also Lavendar Natural shampoo appears to be good also. Trust me the urine works, actually, it was my hairdresser who told me about it and she said that women in eastern europe use this method as a cure. It works...Good luck

Alopecia is the name given to hair-loss that shouldn't be happening. Not a huge amount is known about it, but it appears to be some form of auto-immune disease. The body literally attacks its hair cells. It can be trigger by stress, but I'm sure there's many other causes.

Someone I know developed alopecia universalis in 2001. She lost all her hair, everywhere. She was going through a particularly stressful time. It has never grown back, and she's been wearing a wig ever since. However, despite repeated trips to the doctor, no physiological cause has ever been found. I believe there are alopecia specialists though. The best thing for your OH to do is probably monitor the hair-loss until she's sure that there's definitely cause for concern, and then go to her GP to discuss alopecia. She might be able to get a referral or something.

Then again, I lose a lot of hair on a daily basis. It might be nothing.

    Thanks Guys,

Personally I think it's stress related as she tends to get stressed quite easily. I'll look into the advice above, much appreciated.

She was with the GP yesterday who told her that hormone and blood tests were found and that it was down to stress. My lady has been monitoring this for maybe 2 years now and is growing a little concerned. The doctor never mentioned anything such as Alopecia, nor did she refer her onto someone else. Is there anyone she could be referred to? Do we have hair specialists in this country?

I was thinking of ringing the doctor today and asking is it possible to have her referred to a specialist. Is this OK do you think or a bad idea?

Whats wrong with being referred to a specialist? Go man. Go.

The whole hair thing will only exacerbate existing stress. I'd do it.
