What is the best license?

    overall i want to get both a c and d license . dad was saying years ago getting a d license entitled you to get the c license .ie passinf the bus test got you the lorry license . but not the same in reverse . is this still the same. does passing the bus first automatically get you the lorry

    Not any more.
    C and D are completly separate licence categories.
    You have to pass test separately for each.
    You also need to pass tests for CPC to drive professionally.

    There are different minimum ages also - 18 for a truck, 21 for a bus.

    There is one small connection between the two categories:

    If you have a full articulated truck licence (E+C) and a full bus licence (D) you may apply for, and be granted a bus and trailer licence (E+D) without a test.
