im trying to get jobseekers allowance, but i live at home and get some part time work at the weekends so thats all being counted. thats fine with me. i opened a claim because i wanted to see if i was entitled to anything etc.

but i just got a letter today and i havent a clue what they are trying to say in it.

its 3 pages long and the first one states that they have calculated my weekly means to be 17 euro. then it says that i have weekly means from employment amounting to 60 euro also.

it just tell me then that if iv any probs with this iv to contact them, but can anyone actually tell me what they are trying to tel me or what this means? have they come to a decision if i get any allowance or what, and how much will i be getting?!

the other 2 pages are UP3i and UP3h and they just explain how they worked out these two figures.

im sorry if i sound stupid to anyone but i just dont understand any of this type of thing and i really feel like iv no idea what they are telling me :(

not sure if anyone has any advice on this? after spending ages reading through the letter again and the info on the website i THINK ive come to the conclusion that im entitled to the 204 euro maximum sum minus the sum they worked out to be my weekly means from parents income and also minus a certain amount for every day that i work.

whats confusing me now is that i cant for the life of me see how they work out how much this figure is that they deduct per every day that i work? the letter is impossible to understand and im finding the wording on the website very hard to figure out too..... if anyone can help me with this issue of how they work out the figure that is deducted for every day i work id be so grateful

I'm not an expert...actually I know very little about it - but IF you are correct and they say you are entitled to €204 per week - minus weekly €17 - then you get €177 per week.

have you checked out www.citizensinformation.ie - might be able to find out what the waffle in the letter is all about. (maybe)
