Hi just wondering does the money that is in the charity boxes beside the tills in shops actually go to the charity or do the managers go out at the end of the month on the piss with the money...

My old manager removed the charity boxes from the tills in hope people would opt to spend their cash on chocolate instead of "wasting" it on charity!!

i think in some shops the staff will open it and use the change out of it and then send a cheque off to the charity but it all gets there in the end

I do see letters in the shop of how much they have donated in the boxes every month so the charities I suppose, But where it goes from there is the mystery...

I have never seen a letter in shop regards how much donated, is it displayed to the public?

Barnardos are doing a thing at the moment where they sell bags of sweets for 2 euro in shops... they have loads of things like strawberry cables and refreshers etc... My MIL works in a dry cleaners that sells them and comes home with bags of the stuff... she pays the money for it obviously or her boss would sack her... but she then tries to offload it all onto me!

Back in my days working in a shop those charity boxes were a great source of change for the tills. They were picked up every week or two in our case as well.

Down with this sort of thing, Ado you can leave the free sweets in the letterbox.
