If James Bond Ran a Marathon - what would his time be?*

I was out running with a mate last night and we had a good laugh/debate over this.

If Bond ran a marathon - what time would he run it in? (Argument is he'd be slow cause the Craig version is built more like a body-builder than a runner - maybe 4:10?)

Similarly if J.Bourne did an Olympic Tri, what time would he finish in?

Obviously these are Hypothetical questions - As we all know these guys are too busy fighting terrorism at the moment to take part in races!...

If roger moore did it, it'd take about 8 hours, because as we know, he cant actually run. Seriously, check it out in his films. Im pretty sure i once saw him say that they deliberately had as few scenes with him running as possible cos it just looks so odd.

George lazenby, meanwhile, would be a dnf. He'd start well, and look like he could have quite a decent marathon if he kept it up. However, he would then decide that he had done enough to be considered an sub 3 marathon runner, at which point he would walk off and wait for the offers of bigger and better marathons to roll in.

I don't think he'd do all that well. I get the impression that he wouldn't have the motivation to try that hard. James Bond is a slick mick that hangs around casinos or chases beautiful women in his spare time when he's not saving the world. His smoking and vodka martini wouldn't help him either. The scene at the start of Casino Royale with Daniel Craig chasing that bloke shows that he has some endurance. Might be a good 1500 metre or possibly 5k runner but I think overall it'd take him about 5 hours to do a marathon.

Pfft, Chuck would stand still and the finish line would run to him.

And if I'm that predictable I need a new scriptwriter...

if bourne did a tri he would go missing somewhere in transition only to turn up at the organisers home six months later demanding to know why the entry fee was so high?
why were'nt the marshals better and is the money really going to charity?
when his questions were answered he would then kill said gentleman with a foam roller and a dozen caffinated apple flavour gels.

It's the bus driver that takes him out of it before the race that I feel sorry for.

No way would James Bond run the whole thing.

He'd have a load of gadgets, i'm guessing mini jets on his shoes or invisablity suit. He'd walk across the line in first place without a drop of sweat, adjust his cufflicks and make a mildly amusing pun

Plus I'm sure Q would have a few performance enhancing drugs - Liquid energy from NASA?

(hope this post isn't against the boards charter :D)

if James Bond ran the marathon he would definately finish two minutes before the insane, one eyed, cat stroking, international criminal mastermind's bomb was due to explode under the UN leaders seat at the finishing line grandstand......................... and of course his post race warm down would involve lots of hand to hand combat with scores of black pyjama wearing, martial arts expert henchmen

Fitness Instructor: 'No Bourne - it's treadmill not treadstone..'
    Bourne: 'Treadmill!'
    Fitness Instructor: 'Yes, treadmill.'
    Bourne: 'You killed Marie.'
    Fitness Instructor: 'What?'

M: "thank you for joining us Prime Minister, yes 007 has just saved the world again....
PM: "excellent... how ever did he manage it?"
M: "well sir, as you know we entered him in disguise as a marathon runner in Berlin where we supected the device would be on one of the runners belts"
PM: "the most appropriate agent for the job then..."
M: "yes sir, he managed to snatch the trigger from Mr Gebrselassie's grasp somewhere in the final 2 miles. In fact, I believe he is with Miss Moneypenny at the finish line right now, we can get them on our screen here..."

    M: "007...?
    PM: "MR BOND!"
    MP: "ooh Jaames.."
OO7 "one should always get a good rub down after a hard run sir!"

PM: 'Another dead marathon runner... That's the last time we let Bond fire the starting pistol'
M: 'Okay, but he didn't use the pistol.'
PM: 'What did he use? Shoe-laces?'
    M: 'A fraid knot, sir.'
    PM: 'Oh M that's awful.'
    M: 'Yeah'

I don't think Bond would run a marathon.

Of course everyone knows he went to a fee-paying secondary school. There he captained the Rugby team to the schools' cup. He also starred in Athletics. Then he went on to Oxbridge, where he majored in science and oriental languages (;)). He won a variety of blues. Judo, of course, fencing, Rugby, naturally and decathlon. He might have made the British Olympic team but he spent too much time avoiding men with shotguns instead of training.

After college, he joined the Royal Navy, and moved through the ranks, while his sporting career suffered. He was nearly capped for England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland at centre, but he sacrificed his sporting career to join the SAS. There he was spotted and recruited for the Secret Service.

An all-round athlete of some note, but definitely not a marathoner.

    :D

Jason Bourne was kicked in the head at the start of his first triathlon and nearly drowned. He has no clue what happened after that.

    Haha!

Didn't Bourne say something like he could run for a mile and a half flat out before his hand starts to shake - definitely would have potential!
