So MW2 is saying my NAT is set to strict. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I have a smart telecom modem and a belkin wireless router, both have their firewalls completely disabled and all security bar WPA turned off. How am I still showing as strict?
It's taking me close to 5 minutes to get into a game each time a log on, and ping is always 2 bars.

What format are you using? PS3, XBox or PC?

Are you using the latest firmware upgrade on your router? When was it last updated. I couldn't get my PS3 to change NAT or work wirelessly for over a year and then when I upgraded the router it worked seamlessly :o

If you do upgrade the router firmware, back up your settins first.

Mine said strict yesterday but today with no changes to the router is saying moderate. No idea why.

Routher hasn't had a firmware update in years, it's really quite old.
I'm playing on a 360, connected via cable to the router. Might try connect it straight to the modem but then I'll lose media streaming from the server. :(

If the problem persists I guess I'll have to push forward my network upgrade, but there still aren't many decent N setups going.

Sorry, I'm not being clear. What I meant was have you downloaded the latest updates to your router software? It's important to be running the latest version of the software. Once I updated my router software everything went smoothly.

If this isn't really COD specific I might move it to the XBox forum. That okay with you?

Well it seems to only effect pings/connection on COD, but either or is fine :)

Like I said in an earlier post, my router hasn't had a new firmware available in many years so can't update it any further.:)

Hi, NAT is Network Address Translation. Try looking into other settings on your router specifically related to this or gaming ports.

Read here for much more detailed description of NAT.

Try Googling your router model and "NAT settings" for hints.;)
