In the same way that a Mk1 boggo Cortina or a Mini 1000 are a classic today it brings me to the question " what would you put away today to be a future classic? . No exoctica or the like , just plain ordinary everyday cars from the 90's and the 00's. I'm moth balling a Saab 900 from 92 and a 82 Renault 5 so thats my answer....

I've a 1983 Fiat 127 1300GT in a shed for the past 14 years, and I plan on keeping my daily driver as long as I can, a 94 Vectra diesel.

That Saab 900 looks like a miniature. :D

Have to say my E38 7 series, it already is a classic in my eyes.

    No question:

    A base spec Nissan Tiida.

So that, no matter how bad things ever get in the future, regardless of all the pedestrian impact & crash regs that may be imposed and ruin car design, we can ALWAYS look back and realise - Foock me, it could always be worse!

There will always be lots of well kept cars like saab 900 & older M3 & M5 as they have a following from when they were new and will continue to have.
I think the real future classics will be the cars that nobody has given a second thought to.
A scorpio maybe? Didnt sell in huge numbers and is an aquired taste.

There is a very good chance alot of Saab 900's will still be running as daily drivers in 15yrs time !

I'd like to keep an R5 GT turbo and maybe a Clio Williams.

I would put away a Renault Laguna. What are the chances one of those will be around in years to come.

But, in all seriousness I would put away a Vauxhaull Monaro before the worldwide greens / greenpeace types ruin the motoring world.

+1 on the Fiat Coupe 20VT
    MB 190E Cosworth
MB 500E (W124) - 'cause it was built by Porshe
    Lancia Delta Integralia/Evo
    Audi urQuattro
    Peugoet 205 Gti
    VW Golf Gti (mk1, mk2)
    Citroen 2CV

    From more modern cars:
    VW Scirocco (2008+)
    Audi TT RS
    Mazda RX8 (for the engine)

Doesnt exist, EK civic tyre r, EG civic SiR

S15 will be very sought after, already 10 years old and not many cars since can compare.

I am SERIOUSLY Considering putting away my Evo V

need somewhere dry to put it though.

Rallying is a dying sport, an Old 90's Rally car will be worth a few quid in say 2020 :)

Some of the cars mentioned are too common I think to be classics. Fiat Coupe and 500 for example.

I'd put away a Mk2 CRX or DA6 Integra, if I could find either.

Tell you what though, wont it be interesting to take a look back at a prius in 30 years. God knows what way the propulsion argument will sway over the next 10 - 15 years. The prius might have been way ahead of its time or a crazy stop gap answer.

Probably not, as the MkI is sinfully ugly in a way that only Japanese cars can be. (Although the Koreans and Chinese are getting there)

If any hybrid is noteworthy in 30 years I'd think it'd be the first one the world got: the Insight MkI.

Ah I dont know. It might just be the fact its so ugly that attracts people to it. Yaeh the Insight might be the first but the Prius was the car that brought hybrids to the masses.
