Painful wisdom teeth

I have two wisdom teeth that are growing in weird directions and have recently started to give me a lot of trouble ie. PAIN! My lower left wisdom tooth is growing at an angle towards the one next to it and the top left is growing out toward my cheek.

So i went to dentist who has known about them for some time but because they weren't bothering me very much until recently he hasn't done anything. But the last time i went - last week - i told him that i have been having a lot of pain and he basically said that i would have to have the lower one out definitely at some point in the near future but that he was more worried about another one of my top teeth that i had trouble with recently (sensitivity due to a crack) since he doesn't know how far down the crack goes and that i would have to see a specialist to know whether i have to get the tooth out or can i get a root canal.

He prescribed flagyl for my wisdom teeth as he said that i had swelling around the lower one and that the flagyl would get rid of it but the pain is not gone and i'm on my last day of them!

So i guess there are two separate issues here.

    1. Should i go back to the dentist and convince him that i need the lower wisom tooth (at least) out now (cos he hasn't sent me to get them out yet) or should i just take painkillers.

    2. What are the odds that the crack in my other tooth is really far down and i would need to get it out??? I don't want to lose my tooth!!

    i'm really worried.

If there are qualified dentists or even dental students on here i would be grateful for any advice.

    Thanks:)
