I'm using this (http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055652109) as a HTPC. I wanna start using windows media centre for playing all my videos as I have one of those remotes sitting about doing nothing and I want to put it to use. I've been using media player classic home cinema with the k-lite codec pack up until now but is there a better codec pack? I'm just worried about the relatively weak graphics card on the studio.

    Cheers.

I know Windows 7 seems to handle a lot more out of the box, so you could start off with trying to play all your different file types and see if you are happy. MKV will still need Hali installed as far as I know.

If you are not experiencing isssues with your playback currently nothing should really change.

I use Shark's codec pack when I revert to using one.

Installing Ffwdshow and "Haali Matroska Splitter" does everything for me. Very simple.

ya, i am testig sharks pack as well

    is your audio working ok?

for example, if i watch a movie with DTS on xbmc or eva9150, then the dts light is on my amp and all is well.

however, if i try the same movie in w7mc using the codec pack, the dts light does not come on -

should these codec packs pass thru all audio signals?

Same here but I have ac3filter for outputting the audio.

You could also check the file with graphedit to also see what filters are being used.
