    I have an idea for a website that would focus on one county,and I would appreciate some ideas on monetizing it.The site would contain local events,news etc and I basically have 3 main questions,

    1.What if any is the best way to monetize this

    2.I would like to include the county name in the domain-should I go with the .com or the .ie extension

    and

    3.Is adding the word live or online to the county name a bit cheesy

    I would appreciate any opinions on the subject

    I doubt if doing a single county would work in terms of revenue. There are lots of sites like this that have faded away after a time. Some people do them as a means of getting web development work, good for restaurants, B&B etc. Hard to get advertising (unless you use google adsense).
    Wouldn't worry about the cheesy bit. Getting noticed is what will matter.

    Thanks for the comment Conolan-it is to get noticed and get design work.

    It will also be a social network -lets see if there is any interest
