Anyone else looking forward to this TV adapation by HBO?.

I for one can't wait , the cast looks top notch. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/

Filming started in scotland and has now moved to Northern Ireland.I think given HBO's past productions (ROME,BAND OF BROTHERS,SOPRANOES,ETC)we can look forward to something special.
A GAME OF THRONES by RR Martin is such a brilliant story that even non-fantasy fans will be impressed .
LOL one big problem i foresee is fitting in all the amazing characters in this TV adaptation.
Can't wait to see Tyrion on the TV screen.

I reckon we will see a whole new generation of Fantasy/RR Martin readers after this TV show airs.

So do you plan to watch it when it arrives?.

One last thing lads before this post dies a natural death.

I predict this will be bigger than Rome and Band of Brothers(hbo) and one of the main talking points in television threads after it is aired. So till then.

    Roll on Games of Thrones.

There's more interest on this in the Literature forum and the Sci-Fi & Fantasy forum :)

I also disagree that it will be bigger than 'Band of Brothers' because BoB appealed due to an almost universal fascination with WWII and the men and women who partook in it. This is based on a series of books that some people will still see as kids as they do the fantasy genre.
I'm of course looking forward to it (I queued 90 minutes to get the guy to sign my book!) and think it could be brilliant but I'm still wary that others mightn't. This is the world where 'Firefly' gets cancelled but 'So You Think You Can Dance' constantly gets top viewer ratings.

If they do it right, it could be absolutly fantastic, as the books are amazing. I just hope they dont **** it up.

I'm a big fan of the books and can't wait for this. I think that I first heard that they were going tomake a series in 2007 so its been a while coming but its almost here now :D. Its going to be great. I don't think that they can fit in everything from the books but a George is on the writing staff and has experience writing for TV it should be the best adaptation possible.

Plus as it is being shot in Ireland it give Irish actors a great chance to get in the show as minor/background characters.

Very much doubt it will top Band of Brothers and I'd predict The Pacific will be the talking point of next year.

That said I'm looking forward to this just because it's HBO, I give most of their series a whirl. I've only ever played the board game, I'll probably pick up the books if the series is any good.
