    Hi
Just a quick query. Decided on this TV. Typical that the one I want isn't in stock anywhere. One store has a display model. They'll sell it at a 10% discount.
What should I be looking out for when I check the TV? Would you buy a display model?

    Thanks

i suppose you should look for any bashes or bangs !! I wouldn't be too excited with a 10% off a dispaly model. I was in Harvey's recently and that modle proces at €689 was offered to me for €630 and not as a display model. Thats about 10% off for a non-dispaly model

I'd check for any retention or screen burn too. You might be able to check hours by going into the service mode which might be worth a look.

How much is it with 10% off? It would need to be in perfect condition with a much bigger discount for me to consider buying an ex demo display.

Many thanks. Yes, I'll have a good long hard look at it today. The 10% discount is off the store price. The web price is already 10%off the store price so it's not a great saving. The web site states a store will match the web price, maybe I could get it for 20% off the store price.
My concern is few stores have this TV in stock, a lot are getting it in before Xmas but the boys in Richer Sounds have said believe it when you see it.
Harvey man was very strange when I phoned, "We've got no Panasonics in. They didn't come in to see us and we're not chasing them down". Oh so professional.

It's the 5 year warrenty I'm after as well, some stores are only giving one of two.

Anyway, I'll pop into Harvey to have a look and drop by the other stores too.

Komplett have the TV in 42", nice price but think that's too big for my small sitting room.

    Thanks again

thats the french version of the TV. it'd be the same apart from the tuners, you can check the french panasonic website (www.panasonic.fr) for the spec on the tuners to see if they'd be compatible

Have recently purchased above TV and very happy with it so far. It only on Standard Definition duties (sky+) but performs very well- much better (for SD and sport) than a much more expensive 46 inch Sony LCD (which is full HD) in my living room.

As regards what to look out for I would also like to see how many hours it was operational (through some service menu I think) and also check how high the contrast, brightness etc have been set in store. My understanding (though not too sure whether it makes much of a difference though) is that Plasma's need a little break in period- approx 200 hours with the contrast, brightness set at a lower level than normal.

    Hope this helps

Hi. Great board, thanks for the advice. big_moe, might have spoken to you today, thanks again for taking time to chat to me about the TV. Couldn't get into town today to look at the 42" version but saw the 37" display model today at another store. With 50% off I might have considered this one. Two scratches on the screen, one quite visible no matter what was on. All I'd see at home would be that scratch, it would ruin my enjoyment. Only discount offered was 10%, which is the same as their web price.
Think I'll be going into big_moe tomorrow. The 5 year warranty is such a great offer too.

    Thanks again.
