Floor - Tile or Lino

    Hi,

We are thinking of getting our utility room floor either tiled or have lino put down.
Is there much difference in cost? The size is about 40m2.

Also there is no radiator in the room so not sure if tiling it would be too cold?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

You may be slightly confused in the terminology.

Lino - linoleum is a product - it typically comes in large sheets, but you can also have tiles. You can also get similar vinyl products, but they are (poosibly) considered inferior. With sheets, you can have large areas with no joints.

Ceramic tile - typically clay tiles with a glazed front.

You need to decide on what to do for skirtings. You also need to strike a balance between cleanability and non-slip.

40m2 - are you sure thats not your entire kitchen? :D

Find a few products you like and then ask a few fitters / contractors to price it. Make sure they include the cost of everything, including levelling floors, cutting, sealing, waste, skirtings, etc.

Be very wary of buying the product as it will lead to headaches down the line. A fitter is likely to get a much better price than you.

Realise that there is no simple A is cheaper than B comparison if you also need to pay for C if you use A.
