i started subbing in a secondary school on monday, covering for a teacher out sick. I have a degree but no teaching qualification(yet) I was wondering how much i will be paid per hour. went on the dept website and its confusing as there are rates for qualified/unqualified teachers and also another rate for "personel employed by schools for the purposes of subervision only" the three rates vary from €20 - €50 per hour? Can anyone shed some light?

    thanks

I was in the same boat last year and was paid somewhere between 40-50, cant remember as the pay slips were very confusing.

Is the secondary school a VEC school? I was in one last year and covered the school year in Resource and had full hours at €43 per hour. I was down as unqualified too. The payment came from the VEC.

But I subbed in a secondary school at the start of this year and the dept paid €27 something per hour. Thats what the unqualified rate is with the dept I think...

Qualified subs are paid higher than the avergage rate as it is inclusive of holiday pay, but the unqualified rate is also inclusive of holiday pay so you'll get a little extra and Im almost sure its about the €27 mark. :)
