not reeeeaaalllyyy sure if this is the right place to post i just have a question i need answered.

I am with a modeling agency. I havn't actually signed anything but i am on the website.
I got asked to do a photoshoot, not through them, where i will be getting paid 500euro.

Now, Do i tell the agency about it, and give them a cut, or do i keep shtum because I didnt sign any contracts with them or anything?

Just cause this shoot that i do will most likely be in catalogs etc so you will clearly see my face and they'll be like wtf why didnt you tell us

    sooo...

    Advice?

I'd say once you haven't actually signed anything you should be fine.

Probably not the best idea to be naming the agency, giving your name, etc. Easily for them to find this online if you decide to say nothing and then they want $$$.

First off, I'd edit your post back up there and take out the names.

Secondly, it's up to yourself. If you with an agency, it works both ways, they take a cut, but they'll look after you too (Or at least they're supposed to). They'll definitely see it, and I doubt they'd be too impressed. They're the people that'll stand up for you when there's other work availible.

Your best course of action is to tell x they'll have to book you through y - though, I'm not sure what'll happen at this stage.

I've a close friend who'd get a lot of work from another agency. They got a bit pissy when she modelled for a students college project, never mind paid work.

I would say that you are in a similar position as any other worker that signs up to an employment agency.

I work in industry, I've signed up with various agencies in my time, mostly all at the same time.
If one agency gets me work, I don't pay the others.

If you got this job on your own, why should the agency take money for something that they didn't act as an agent for?

Don't hide the the fact that you got this job from them, but don't pay them anything. If they think that you are desirable to firms hiring models, they might start to work harder for you..

Just be sure that you are accountable for your tax, we don't want the taxman coming after you.

The thing is my cousin who is high up in the fashion industry got me the modeling job that isnt through the agency, so she just texted me rather than going through the agency as she is my family.

Thanks this makes alot of sense, but I'm not really sure how to bring this up
''i got a job, not through you ,getting paid, and you're not getting any''
obviously not as blunt as that but i just dont really wanna get on their bad sides.

however I dont want to give them money for a job they didn't get me.

Unfortunately, an agency won't see it like that, even if you've not signed anything, they've most likely assumed there's an agreement there... Which isn't the best way of doing business, obviously. :)

Thinking about it, you should probably just ring them and tell them you've got a job through family. They might be a bit pissy about it, but you've said yes, and there's no point in not being honest when it could come back and bite you in the ass.

Out of curiosity, have they gotten you work in the past?

Perhaps you should also edit out the names here! :P

OP.... you should phone the agency and ask if they have any work - ask them is it ok for you to do a job for a relation - if they say the relation MUST go through them, then you know where you stand...and you can gently remind them you havent signed any contract !

EDIT: Tell them you have been offered some work and ask if they have been able to find anything for you ?

    Thanks! good advice.

Well i only just joined them about a month ago and they've gotten me one photoshoot, which wasn't paid.
I'm also gonna be on the tele on friday modeling, but again, it isnt paid.

This is why it kind of annoys me that theyre getting me stuff which is of course helpful and great to get my face out there, however just i got this other job, and i feel its unfair to give them a slice when they've not done much for me - paid wise.

Not really the right forum but glad to see you got some feedback anyway. You should try posting any further questions here.
Good luck with the shoot. :)
