Companies Running SAP in Ireland

    Hey All,

I'm an ABAP Developer and I'm just looking to fire out a few CVs and I was wondering does anyone know a list of companies that run SAP in Ireland or maybe where I'd get the list? I created this thread in Computers and Technology but there were no biters, I was hoping maybe someone who worked in recruiting or something would have a list of some sort?

    Cheers

A quick google gives me the user group for the UK and Ireland:

    http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAgQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sapusers.org%2F&rct=j&q=sap+user+group+ireland&ei=8p35Spy8Fo2h4Qbnury8Cw&usg=AFQjCNEnZjZvFP3p9JJJEt6YwdU1_Y8FoQ

No 'list' per se but you should be able to deduce a good few users based on that...

From the top of my head I know Bank Of Ireland run it and they have their IT contracted out to HP.

Cheers for the link but I can't really see a list of companies on that, without paying the 500£ fee anyway!

I've been looking around google alright but nothing seems to have what I'm after.

I know Elan, Jury's, Glanbia, Waterford Crystal, AIB, CIE and Irish Ferries.

There has to be someone out there who knows of a list somewhere.

    Cheers again

    The HSE use SAP.

Off the top of my head, I know the HSE use SAP, Topaz are currently implementing it, Arysta, Glanbia.

If I think of others, I'll post them. I know Oracle list a lot of their clients on their website, does SAP do the same?

As an ABAPer, you might find yourself limited to very large companies - those in excess of 5,000 employees. Smaller companies generally won't have ABAPers on staff and will outsource a lot of their customising and admin to dedicated support suppliers.

Two off the top of my head that operate in Ireland are client solutions and HCL-Axon.

Shades - out of interest - do you find you get yourself pidgeonholed into working with specific modules?, eg, MM, PO, etc

Thanks everyone, this is really great info. Much appreciated.
Shades - out of interest - do you find you get yourself pidgeonholed into working with specific modules?, eg, MM, PO, etc

No to be fair at my current job I'm getting a pretty good spread across all our modules, which are SD, HR, FI, MM, PM and I'm also our workflow developer so I'm getting great experience.

I don't really want to go into specifics in-case someone from my company sees this but basically I bought a house last year with my girlfriend and the commute is starting to really hurt me financially, add this, to the fact that my salary was below the industry average anyway, tax increases, fixed rate mortgage and no bonus for the car insurance etc... I just need to do something that even if I don't get paid more, I'll have a bit more money for the month.

I really don't want to come across as ungrateful; I'm delighted to have a job and everything. The way I see it if I find a new one, someone else will be able to get my job or it'll save someone being let go from here!

SAP people usually were like golddust in this country - I've seen rates/salaries for ABAP'ers come down to more realistic levels in the past number of years - how do you find the marketplace yourself?

Are you working with R/3 or MySAP?

Hi OP, I used to work for a recruitment company in Cork that specialise in ERP only, SAP, Oracle, peoplesoft and Siebel.. they're an american company but cork is their European headquarters and they are mainly contract roles, but they may be able to point you in the right direction. I'll PM you the details and the name of one of the girls that still works there, she's sound and won't mind giving you a few pointers.
