Did any one see this on C4 last night? I switched over half way through and thought it was a documentry at first. The actor looked really like him. Interesting to watch.

    Gary Glitter gets harsh press.

I found it interesting because of its exploring the death penalty for paedos.

And they actually were hanging Glitter :pac:

He should really be killed, purely for his crimes against music

It must suck to be a paedo celebrity. Imagine sitting down for the night, turn on the TV, browse through the channels, and a mock-up of your execution is on TV.

What purpose did this serve or was it merely an expensive revenge fantasy played out under the guise of edutainment?

Yup. That'd be the worst thing about being a celebrity paedophile I'd imagine.

Charlie Brooker did a good blog on it: http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2009/nov/07/charlie-brooker-screenburn-gary-glitter

I don't see the point of it really. I watched bits of it, so maybe the whole point was lost on me. It just seemed unnecessary.

I didn't say it was the worst thing. :P

I watched this and I have to say it was fascinating viewing; moreso for the details of the public's reactions, the views of the people being 'interviewed' and the whole premise. It all seemed very well thought out and was very well, pardon the pun, executed television.

Acting was very strong as well.

An interesting, if a bit pointless albeit, piece of television.

I dont think its right all this Gary glitter bashing.

When I was a kid I was very ill in hospital and Gary Glitter came to visit me.

    I was touched.

In that case it would be more porn than documentary

Saw this on 4od just there. Wasn't really that interesting but for some reason i felt like i needed to watch it to the end. Death penalty will never come in though with the eu. It'll be a long long time before many european countries forget how the power to end peoples lives was abused by those who held it.
