I work in the off-licence in my local supermarket and I managed to get my hands on some bottles of McChouffe. However, I've bought 2 bottles so far and when I opened both of them they spewed everywhere like mentos in coke. I had them standing still for hours before opening them so they weren't shaken or anything. Anyone have an explanation for this, It's a bit of a pain in the arse losing half the the beer after paying €7.50 a bottle. (Very nice beer btw)

It often happens with bottle-conditioned beers like this. Westmalle Dubbel is a devil for it as well.

You just have to be ready with the glass when you open it, and pour immediately after the cork pops. Even 33cl out of the 75cl bottle should leave enough headspace for the foam to stay in.

Yeah, I suppose I'll just have to time it right. I've another 2 bottles for tonight. I'm not used to 750ml bottles with a crimped cap, They're usually a cork

It's a fine beer alright, but I have had the same problems with it. You really need to be quick with the glass. I have not come across another beer that bad for fizzing up out of the bottle. Enjoy them :p
