    Hi All

We are 2 adults 2 kids (10 & 12) where would people recommend for skiing Jan/Feb blue & red slopes not bothered about nightlife, accomodation probably half board.

Been to Zermatt twice and booked seperately but would a package with a tour operator be cheaper and better. I am cosidering Saas fee but a bit pricey at €3500 half board.

Also when is the best time to book before Xmas or last minute

    Any advice appreciated

pavb2There will not be to much last minute this year as TO have severly cut their advance bookings.

Sass Fee is where I am heading this year great resort and very snow sure. It is a beautifull town to. There are two Irish guys with aparments there the link for one is below. Not a cheap town to eat out in though.

Time of the year is all up to you if you go snowsure the dates wont really matter be warned first week of Jan is Russian Christmas and the alps are invaded with them

A couple of other options might be

    Lech/Ischgel/Obergurgal - Austria

    Madonna Del Campino - Italy

    Chatel / Morzine - France

Somewhere I always recommend to families with children is Val Cenis, and stay at the CIS. They have a great set-up there for skiing families, the price includes full board including wine with lunch and dinner, and lift pass. Not luxurious, but clean and warm and good craic. And way cheaper than Zermatt.

Val Cenis itself is a fairly quiet resort in the next valley over from the Trois Vallees, but half the price. It's recently been linked with a nearly resort, so there's about 120km of piste, and lots of blues and reds. A couple of interesting blacks and off-piste as well. The best thing for beginners is L'escargot, the longest green run in Europe which zigzags across the mountain, so that even the most nervous or exhausted skier can get down safely. It goes right past the back of the CIS, non-beginners can ski right to the door of the locker room.

There is a swimming pool and ice rink etc if anyone still has energy.
