Do you have to give your home details for the TV Licence in the UK?

You actually have to do it here, first time I have ever been asked.

You just give your Irish address. They only want it for TV tax Licence enforcement.

You would find the same in France, I beleive.

I just never thought that such a system was here, I though we had some privacy etc even from state-bodies. I refused to sign today, I didn't see the point. I can just imagine all the dockets that An Post receive and they prob haven't ever had someone to do the data input. Seems a bit futile and wasteful.

Where did it happen. Dixons ? Curry's ? If you buy a TV in the Uk then they do this. They have extended this to Ireland for no other reason than company policy.

Privacy etc. Eh weak arguement though. This is no new thing in Ireland. Its been around since the 70s in legislation. Its just not put into practice by most retailers afaik.

Did they still let you have the TV ?

Just give them someone else's address if you do not want to give your own. I do not think that anything happens to it. I doubt if an Post get the data and even if they do, I am sure you already have a licence.;)

That's a right neighbourly thing to do!

Not your neighbour's, someone else you do not know. Like Mick McCarthy or Brian Lenihan, Kitty O'Sea or Peig.

    Kitty O'Sea or Peig.

Hussy - I mean she is the real reason we have problems on this Island of ours.

    Peig she's on the Welfare.
