So I get to the train station in Clonsilla to get my bike this morning and all I find is my bike lock (which didn't put up much of a fight :( ). So I went into the station and asked if they had a camera in the bike shed. To my disgust she said no. She then informed me that I was the third person today that had their bike stolen. I was pretty pissed off so I rang Iarnród Éireann and they informed me that most stations have cameras on their bike sheds, which, of course, is real helpful for me considering I no longer have a bike. Why provide bike facilities if they aren't even remotely secure??

And as for the top scum who took my bike, i hope you get seriously injured in a cycling related incident. Anybody else have trouble like this with train stations? Oh, and does anybody know if the bike will be covered under my house insurance (wishful thinking)?

    Venting over.

Appreciate it. It's a blue and grey bike and is most likely being cycled by a Celtic jersey to and from the Social Welfare (No disrespect to Celtic fans or the unemployed, as I am both of the above ;) )

Well then you obviously 'stole' your own bike and you are going to try and frauduently claim off Iarnrod Eireann insurance

You sound wheely mad, you'll be worse if you're saddled with the cost if the insurance doesn't cover it.

Unfortunately, them gits aren't liable so fraud isn't even an option.

Keep an eye on the buy&sell or those free ad sites like done deal
Actually is buy&sell still on sale?
Not seen it in a while

If you do find your bike then report back here for volunteers for a sting operation

At least you got the lock back. :(

Seeing as this is happening every day you should hide in the shed and attack anyone that comes in and takes a bike. One of them is bound to be guilty of something.

This has crossed my mind. I've emailed Steven Segal and I'm awaiting further instructions

I had a bike lifted once. I locked it to the railings outside a place that I'd started working in, and when I'd finished for the day, I walked ouside and it was feckin' gone.

My boss came out and told me that some other staff-member had his bike nicked a few days before. I don't know why he felt the need to contact the previous victim, but within an hour I had my back back.

The previous victim, applying some twisted logic, assumed that whoever stole his bike the previous week, had left another in its place, so broke the lock and took it home.

I've never heard such bollocks in all my life, but as I got my bike back, and had to work in the same building as this twat, I decided to say no more about it.:pac:

That's pretty outrageous. There was a bike identical to mine in the station that was a lot cleaner and had a baby seat. I seriously considered stealin it but I then I realised I didn't have the requisite skill set. i.e. I'm not a Pr*ck.

Had some twat bend the pedal out of the joint (and thus destroying the wearings), ensuring that I couln't put a new pedal in.

    I've got a bike.
You can ride it if you like.
It's got a basket, a bell that rings,
and things to make it look good.
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.

I suppose you have to draw the line, especially if the baby's still in the seat.

I don't understand the anger with the train station. It's not their fault. By the sounds of it you left it overnight...? I would have thought that that'd be a big no no for most people.

I'm not angry with the train station. i just think a security camera would be enough to discourage people or atleast catch the people who do it.

Just to clarify, most of my anger lies with the scum who stole my bike. :(

i know to stay clear from a train station with my bike from now on
