iMail problem

So, I made the plunge and got the new Macbook. Very sweet.

But I'm having a problem with iMail. I've set it up to work with my gmail account. But it won't download messages.

I have no problem sending messages from iMail - they go instantly and are received at the other end. But I cannot download either the inbox or any new incoming mails.

I have followed the settings instructions online - I don't know what else to try.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers,
    Quad

Have you had a mail client connect to your gmail account before? As in have you actually turned on 'imap' on your gmail account?

It is off by default last I checked.

I've seen this problem on a Macbook. It worked ok for a few months and then died even though no settings were changed. The only fix so far is to delete the account in Mail and re-create it. You will need to cache all your mails again but will work after that. I'm looking for a more permanent solution and if I find it I'll let you know.
