I'm thinking about getting a 7' power box, I'd be a Cashels fan but their 7' model has only one ram, whereas most other manufacturers have 2 rams on the 7' model.

    Any recommendations ?

Actually I just noticed that the web page says 7' double rams but the sales rep said "7' single ram" over the phone - need to clarify.

Double rams are strong certainly but unless u have high flow hydraulics they can be a bit slow, a real heavy single ram is fine imo, i bought a damaged nugent twin ram box a couple a years ago it fell off the lorry or something and scored the 2 rams badly. I couldnt get 2 rams cheaply and had an old v heavy single ram so i done a bit of cutting and welding and made it fit. Ive had it on the back of a tw15 and a same trident lifting stuff the size a houses no problems at all !!!!

We have a Nugent (I think it's a 5'6") single ram power box for the last 10 years and it's an excellent machine. It has a good robust build and has done plenty of work, but is still straight as a die.

We have a Nugent its 6' (I think) single ram, its 10 years old and done a lot of work, the paint is worn off the inside, otherwise its like new

Just checked - its only single ram, I'd prefer double for a 7' wide box, more even distribution of force for the width concerned.

Was chattin my mate who has a 3 or 4 power boxes uses em a lot and says a nugent single ram box is his best box, he has 2 double ram ones and says they are no advantage unless you think your goin to move a house or something, as regards weight distribution there only something like 5 inches between the rams and are there to aid in opening and closing under strain more than weight distribution.

its probaly the build quality and thickness of steel used in the box thats more important than how many rams it got .

I was actually considering one of these - prices seem reasonable, also they make a 7'6" and an 8' model as well.
    Where did you purchase?

Following a crap load of research I've decided to go for a woods twin ram box.

Best overall design, finish etc. not the cheapest mind you, but the extra cost is justified
