So my father is changing to a different insurance company and car, one at which il be getting insured under his name for the first time.

I was wondering what wel have to do, can this be done over the phone as in changing the insurance company or does he have to go into the actual place itself? What things will i need to have on ready when setting up my insurance for the first time under my fathers name, do i have to have the log book of the car that is being insured?

Any replies would be appreciated, thanks..

Changing insurance companies can be done whatever way you want - phone, net or in their offices (if they even have any); or via a broker by phone, net or in their offices.

Generally to add someone to an insurance policy all that is required is their driving licence details - some insurers don't even ask for this (Quinn for instance).

I'm sure your dad is aware of this, but he will need to show proof of any no claims discount he wants applied to the policy.
