Anyone just see the news on 2. Big feature at the end on the "violence" of MW2 and how members of boards.ie are hotly discussing it.

Did they use the word "hot"?

We are pretty damn sexy around these parts.

i heard something along the lines of

'one boards member 'steffano202' has been greatly disputing other aspects of the game, which some people consider him 'trolling''

I wonder if they referred to my thread that I started a few hours ago re the Sky News piece. It would be funny if they quoted what my feelings were about the whole topic of video game violence! :pac:

There's 103 people reading this forum at the moment, that beats the amount that were reading Reality TV during Xfactor recently.

A grade reporting by RTE by the sounds of it, just thrilled I'm not paying for it.

I was refering to how the news which was right after pat kennys show protrayed the "violence" of the game so much, and how it got the auld pair ranting about something that they know nothing of, and the fact that the show(pat kennys) talked alot about "sex" which got them ranting in the first place!!!

Sounds like they just copied the 'news item' from the UK media, where I believe they are debating the fact that in one mission you are given the option of shooting innocent civvies to achieve your mission....or not.

As long as parents look at and obey the age limits on the game,as well as monitoring the content themselves. My teenagers play Left4Dead (one is underage)but only when the younger kids are out of the room with doors closed. To be honest they have seen worse on TV. Same as films, you don't let your 8 year old watch SAW VI....or maybe you so.

I did think the game was a tad bloodier then the prior games, but I wouldnt cry home about it, in fact I found it usefull to confirm if I got those snipers in the brazil level or not. The new engine though seems to like its thick spurts of blood here and there.

On *that level* after seeing it in context, its a strange one. At the end of it I felt that it was a bit lazy.

    I mean in the plot
Its meant to be an excuse provided by shepard for the ultra nationalist russian government to invade america. But really? The CIA is randomly mowing down russian civilians in an airport? It could have been something more symbolic...an assassination or bombing, something akin to 9/11 or the assassination of Franz ferdinand. Those started wars. It also would have been alot more fun. The international response to this would have had alot more scrutiny. But in a game where a Russian invasion of the US involves getting russian planes across either europe or the western coast of the US without being seen until they reached washington has already stretched the notion of realism to breaking point (even with the radar down)

I think its a bit of a lazy level, and I originally compared it to a high school shooting in a prior thread, I still think it reminds me a bit of that, but it has context and honestly doesnt seem to be something that needs to be an issue to me.

I wouldnt let kids watch the SAW films cus they are s***.

Most age ratings on games are pathetic and unnecessary - I have played violent games and watched violent films since I was a kid - and I am a well rounded member of society (except for all the murders)

    Yea I think he's nut too! :D:D

On a serious note, RTE always have a story about the violence of a game on the release date (or day before), anyone remember all the hype over GTA IV? They feel that they have to do a story/segment about it. Honestly it just makes more kids want to get it.

Shock-horror, maybe they're in it together with the games companies?
