Just opening the can on this one, could be a great society. I'm willing to be the CEO of this society or the COO, we could just run the society for organised cinema trips or for watching films on campus, we could also put some effort in to create our own student film, could be a short, or a full lenght feature, it all depends on the members participation. Funding wouldn't be much of any issue as camera equipment and lights would cost around 400-800 for a weekend, plenty of time to shoot a short film, and editing can be done on the computers in the college.

The group has been set up, you have to apply for membership within the group. If you don't have a facebook, you may aswell create one, just to join the society, as boards.ie is great for chatting, but facebook has more tools for organisign events and managing the society.

The first FilmSoc meeting will take place between 11am and 1pm in room A57 on thursday 3rd of december, we will cover our general guidelines and take registration for members, which will cost 5 euro. Our first cinema trip should be organised as soon as the society gets funding. I hope to be in the room for the full 2 hours, but i'm not sure if i've got CA's to sit, but i'll organise someone to fill in if i can't.
Feel free to just drop in and register any time between 11 and 1.

Ok, there's a problem with the meeting, seeing as the strikes are on, and i'm fairly sure only a few students will be in the college that day.

i've decided to take registration for the society on monday from noon till 3pm in the canteen, i'll be the guy with a laptop and a high vis jacket sitting on the round tables next to the windows.

I hope to see you guys there,
    Ciaran

Sorry for the extremely short notice, but time was pinched for this, we'll be watching Into The Wild, directed by Sean Penn. It's an amazing film, well worth a watch even if you can't attend today.

It'll be in room E005 at 5pm, today, wednesday 16th of december.
Membership will be €5 and the society will be showing regular films next semester, and members will have free access. Also we'll be making our first film!
