"This content is copy protected" Network Two

When I try to record to HDD from Network 2, I get this error message, this has only happened in the last week and only from this channel.

We only have RTE 1, Network 2, TV3 and TG4 anyway and we are using an aerial.

No problems recording from the other channels.

It is a pioneer system by the way.

Anyone else have this happen to them, I don't mind if it's happening to other people or is it just me?

    Thanks

Are you receiving the channels by analogue or digital? Most HDD recorders on the Irish market would be analogue admittedly... digital systems have copy protection flags that they shouldn't be using, but analogue doesn't have anything that works for over-air reception like that so it could be a faulty box.

It's an analogue signal. Bog Standard channels.

Could it be the HDD Recorder that is playing up? Is it a bit weird that it is only one channel?

Have you tried resetting your HDDR? Unplug from the mains for a minute, plug in again and give it another go.

Ok, will try that now and leave it plugged out for a while

Any update on this? Does it affect all RTE 2 programmes or just some? Try copying the News and see if it's ok.

There have been reports in the satellite forum about copy protection (Macrovision) being turned on in SKY boxes on certain channels (including RTE). This seems to be down to a combination of software problems with certain SKY receivers, but there was a suspicion that RTE were setting copy protection flags in some programmes delivered to the SKY satellite platform which was affecting DVD recorders. One of the posters was due to contact RTE to enquire about the issue.

Maybe RTE are testing Macrovision on their analogue transmissions? Anyone with a good conspiracy theory on this?

Do you live near an airport ?

Some DVDR's mistake the interference (ghosting) from planes for macrovision

Hi. Been lurking here for a while but decided to jump in on this thread. I had the same problem with RTE1 for the last ten days or so. I am getting my TV from the Collins Barrack transmitter in Cork (i.e. not a Sky or cable box) and we have two Sony HDDs in the house. Both got the copy protected message on all RTE1 programmes, including the news, ads etc. During this period, I had no problems with any of the three other Irish channels.

I emailed RTE twice last week and got no reply so I rang on Friday and left a voicemail. The problem is now fixed as of tonight - it was still there at lunchtime today.

What transmitter are you getting your RTE2 signal from - or where are you living if you are not sure. I got the email address and phome numbers from the RTE website but could dig them out if you are interested

WHL, sounds very similar to my problem except mine is network 2, same as you, no digital box, about 10 days ago sounds right too.

I would love those email addresses and phone numbers, thank you.

I think we are receiving from the Mullaghanish transmitter, we are in Ballydehob, West Cork.

    Hi loopymum,

I got the address and number from the About RTE page on their website.

Also on your other point, if you are in Ballydehob you could be getting your TV from Mullanganish or perhaps Mount Gabriel. If it is Mullanganish, you will have two antennas, a large VHF one for RTE1 & 2 and a smaller UHF one for TV3 and TG4. However if you only have one small aerial, you are probably getting your pictures from Mount Gabriel but you won't have TV3
