    Hi all,
Just back in from shooting a fallow stag (only my second) but i was wondering about the number of does per stag in an area. i am asking this because in the area i shoot i have seen four big fallow stag and just wondering what sort of numbers of does do ye reckon would be in the same area. will go out again in a few weeks but wont take another stag as i dont want to un-balance things. problem is i havent seen any does in this area yet?

Fallow males are Bucks, the only real way to know what is on the ground is to put the time in yourself, just because you saw four bucks doesnt mean there are alot or even any does on your patch, it depends on when you saw them, if it was during the rut then id saw yes there are does about but id imagine you would have seen alot of females before you saw the males, if it was after the rut and the four were together then there may be little or no females in the immediate area and you could have a bachelor group area, but that is not always the case, its just strange that you havent seen does, im no expert but i have always found that i see alot more does than bucks, no matter what time of the year and the big bucks are very hard got as they rarely get past four or five years of age and get to their prime, any pictures?? What part of the country?
