We're heading over in a couple of weeks and have been asking the same question. From looking into it a bit, it seems better to wait until you get there at this time of year cause it's quieter.

We have bought before we went and bought when we got there and buying when you get there works much better. You can buy base price disney tickets and add water parks etc as you feel like it or as time allows. The difference in price is so small it's not worth it.

I would disagree and say you're better to buy before you go. There are deals online that work out cheaper than buying on the gate. For example. on the Universal website, a 2 park, 7 day ticket works out $25 per ticket cheaper than the gate price. http://www.universalorlando.com/Tickets/tickets_2.aspx#

I would also recommend checking out www.undercovertourist.com and www.mapleleaftickets.com for Disney tickets. You might only save $10 per ticket, but every little helps and at least it's one less thing to worry about when you are out there. Also the euro is very strong against the dollar at the moment so it's a good time to buy.

It doesn't matter what time of the year you are going, the tickets are the same price regardless. You don't have to give your dates when buying the tickets, they don't expire. They only expire 14 days after the 1st use (7 days for the Universal ticket I mentioned above)

Just make sure you are being realistic about what tickets you buy. There is no point in buying a 14 day Disney with water parks and a 14 day Universal with Busch Gardens and Seaworld, if you are only going to be there for 14 days in total, you just won't use them. Check out all the parks and decide which ones you want to see and how many times you think you will visit them and purchase a suitable ticket accordingly. The websites I mentioned above give a pretty good overview of the parks and type of tickets available.

From experience I'd advise to just buy tickets once you're there from your hotels or the individual parks themselves. Also you can a bit extra to get an 'Express' ticket that allows you to use the 'Express' queues for the rides-the time you save queuing is definitely worth the extra price and it allows you to see a lot more of the park.
We opted for regular tickets and were fairly shattered from queuing by the end of the day. Went back to Universal parks the next day and paid for the Express Tickets-was just amazing!!

there in july for first time. bought a 6 park pass. 14 day unlimited use. if you go to a park in the morning and go to a different one in the afternoon you only pay for 1 car park if your driving. $600 for 2. got them at the gates of wet n wild. ticket booths on the street wanted us to go on a type of time share trip to a hotel and then you went some where else to collect tickets. try and get to the gates early. hope you have good time. we did
