It seems like Peterborough have parted company with Fergie Jr. Hopefully he will get another chance elsewhere.

Peterborough United have parted company with manager Darren Ferguson, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire reports.

The 37-year-old Scot led Posh to back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship after taking over in January 2007.
But the London Road club have struggled in their first season back in the second tier and are currently bottom after winning just two games.
Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Newcastle was their third defeat in a row.

English guy I work with is a huge Posh fan. He was at the Newcastle match. Reckons the chairman is a clown and hasnt backed Ferguson financially at all.

Presume Barry Fry will step in. Entertaining anyway but I think Ferguson will get another chance at Championship level.

Back to back promotion and doesn't get half a season? Harsh.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

LOL@ thread title. Re-cork those champagne bottles lads.;)

I was under the impression he was doing a good job for them. Giving him the boot afetr promotion 2 years in a row is pure madness.

Verminous team in a verminous city. Hopefully they will descend into a league more fitting, maybe Conference South.

Much as I dislike them, it's a shame for Ferguson who got them into the Championship, fighting way above their weight.

Ha my oul fellah just tried the same line on me. It took me an entire 5 seconds to cop what had happened.

On the football side of things: Madness. Hope he gets another Champo job soon, back to back promotions is a fantastic achievement in any division.

I think this is a joke of a decision. He has just lead them to two successive promotions on a shoestring budget. A lot of the players still in the squad are still league 2 standard players. I think he has done a brilliant job. Let the chairman back him with some money in Jan and bring in a few quality loan signings from the EPL and see can he keep them up. It wouldnt be the end of the world if they went back down to league 1 for a season and came back up even stronger the following season.
The chairman must be a clown if he cant see the job Ferguson has done. I read on another forum that the average age of the P'boro starting 11 is only something like 23 so he is obviously planning for the future. Give the man a break he has earned it.

the chairman did back him with money, but he chose not to spend it, instead keeping faith with the players that got them up.

    admirable, but stupid

Well then the money should still be there. Let him go out and spend it now or in Jan. Its not like they are doing a Sunderland under McCarthy. I think he was right to give the players who had gained him promotion 2yrs running a crack at the big time, but to get rid of him because things arent working out only a few games into the season is madness in my view.

He spent over 2 million, which, by League One and League Two standards, is enormous.

As for the players he's left being League 2 standard, George Boyd, Aaron McLean and Craig Mickail-Smith would ALL cut it in the prem, and will probably leave in January for a combined 15 million fee, Boyd in particular already attracting interest from top Prem teams.

    Aye, Darragh McAnthony.

I'd put my mortgage on Whiskeyface Jnr becoming the next Hull manager

That would be priceless. I'd like to see him take over a club with a bit of ambition. If he took the Hull job it could be the ruination of him, they will more than likely do down regardless of who comes in as they will more than likely have to sell to finance the debts they have.
I'd say he is sick he didnt jump ship and go to either Reading, QPR or West Brom when he had the opportunity, although the Reading position could open back up soon enough.
