This security event might be of interest to people. Free to attend if you register on www.issaireland.org:

On Tuesday November 10th Information Systems Security Association Ireland will hold a special Academic Showcase in Dublin, focusing on academic teaching and research in lreland. The aim is to highlight the range of security programmes which exist in Irish universities and Institutes of Technology, as well as strengthening relationships between industry and academia nationally.

We are grateful to Deloitte for providing the venue for this event: the Deloitte Academy on Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2. This event will run 12:30 to 5:30 and is open to non-members at no charge, however registration is required via the form below.

For anyone considering a full-time or part-time degree course in information security this event will be the perfect opportunity to see the full range of courses on offer in Irish colleges. A series of short presentations will provide an overview of degrees in information security, digital forensics and related areas, as well as short courses and individual modules relevant to security. Following these presentations a coffee break will give an opportunity to meet with course leaders and other academics, plus a chance to see poster presentations highlighting current research projects.

Research in security will be similarly showcased in presentations from researchers and students at all of the major Irish universities and Institutes of Technology. Presentations will range from dedicated information security research programmes to individual research projects on security topics. We are also inviting final-year students and PhD candidates to present their research, which may be of particular interest to those interested in hiring graduates.

Finally, since this event is aimed at connecting security professionals and academics working in this area, we will hear about several programmes for industry collaboration and funded research, ranging from Enterprise Ireland's "Innovation Voucher" scheme to the European Union "FP7" programme.
