When do i start paying tax

    Im a student supplementing my income with a part time job of about €200, my q is will i ever have to pay tax?

    Well if you are not paying tax at the moment then you wont but if you start working more hours, earning more and break the tax threshold (not too sure what this currently is) then you will have to pay tax.

    Well you should be paying tax at 20% but your tax credits for the calender year will be €3660 so say you earn €20000 in a year, you are taxed at 20% which is €4000 and then you are give your tax credits of 3660 leaving you with a total tax bill of 40 for the year!

    Basically you will have to earn approx 20k in a year before you will pay any tax and seeing as you are working part-time and are a student I cant see you earning 20k!!

    Nope, you're not earning enough. €289 is the levy threshold, €352 is the PRSI one.I always hit the levy, occassionally PRSI- especially over the summer but never never any tax...I've earned €440 and not been taxed, but some people I work with have on the same amount...depends also on the personal tax threshold you've been given but I don't have a clue what it is or how to calculate it.
