As usual the Leinster Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association will be running their annual umpire training course in the New Year.

This course is ideal if you're considering taking up umpiring, want to know more about umpiring, or simply want to learn the laws of cricket properly (current players, I'm looking at you!!:D)

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here or PM me, and if you're interested in applying please visit http://www.leinstercricketumpiresscorers.net/index.html for instructions.

I hope that this is well supported. And though I'm no longer involved with cricket I would reiterate the call to current players, even if they have no intention of taking up umpiring for a while.

I was a founder member of JACUS, the equivalent Jersey association. I recall that some of us players rolled up on the first night of tuition thinking that we knew it all. After that first night we all went away shaking our heads realising that in fact we knew so very little.

Very worthwhile, and qualification earns you the best view possible of the match :)
