race entry fees

    I want to try and see how you all feel about race entry fees . so Im trying to set up a poll.

    Whats do you feel is a fair race entry fees for a race with Prizes etc?

    ok lets scale it down for now . Whats a fair race entry for a race under half marathon.

    I think it would depend on the length of the race.

    If possible two categories -

    < half marathon
    half marathon +

    Depends on more than just the distance. There's also the "prestige" factor....for example, I'd expect to pay more for the BUPA 10k with elite athletes, than I would for a BHAA 5k with a nice cup of coffee and choccie biscuits afterwards. And I don't mean any disrespect to BHAA in that....I much prefer the BHAA events to the likes of the BUPA 10k.

    There are also other factors such as (alleged) charity donations. If I knew that €10 of my entry was going to a respectable charity, then I've no problem paying that premium.

    But to be honest, I'd question paying anything more than €15-€20 for a 10k race and €35-€40 for a half-marathon. As for marathon, then the skies the limit (NYC cost me €175 in entry fees this year, and I didn't even run it).

    Too general a question imo - for me it could easily range from €5 to €70 depending on all the factors involved - even more for really special events.

    distance and sport would help

    olympic distance triathlon 50 euro, anything more is gouging
    30 for sprint
    10 for duathlon
    70 for him

    race entries for multisports is stupid these days.
