Fillings and temperature change

    Hi Guys,

I got 2 silver fillings into the two back teeth on my right hand side last Wednesday. They don't seem as noticable as other silver fillings I've got, just a silver layer over the top of the tooth and wouldn't hugely notice it.

They weren't effecting me before the procedure but now hot and cold drinks cause pain. Also the nearby teeth felt a bit sensitive after the filling was done.

I have an appointment with the dentist next week for other work. Is this sensitivity normal or should i be worried and try bring the appointment forward?

nothing too unusual, large metal fillings conduct hot and cold and it takes time for the teeth to get used to it. as long as it's just sensitivity then you're on the good side of pain!! it's when the pain doesn't need an irritation to get going that it may be problematic. just avoid really hot and cold stuff til you go back, and mention it if it hasn't settled. there's stuff that can be smeared on the teeth to reduce sensitivity. it may help to smear toothpaste over it before you sleep too, and leave it there overnight.
