I have a sixties or seventies Omega Deville 9ct gold watch. I bought it at an antique fair from a dealer three years ago. It is auto and keeps good time. I wear the watch quite a lot and am wondering do these watches keep going long term. The guy that I bought it from obviously did not use the watch for a while and then used it for a week before selling it to me, just to test it. The question I have is, is it better to wear the watch all the time or use it occasionaly. I am asking which would be better for the mechanics of the watch ?:p

Do you know when it's last service was?

    It's probably due one.

probably been serviced four or five years back, but do all these watches need regular servicing ? Will they malfunction if not serviced ?

Think Omega generally say every 5 years, but it depends on the watch.

In answer to your question though, mechanically, the watch should be fine for everyday use, but you'd want to be careful it doesn't get any abuse. The gold wouldn't take the same battering other metals would.
