Replacing headlamp bulbs on a VW Golf....??

    Hi everybody,

Quick question for all you car enthusiasts/handy men out there. I drive a VW Golf 1.4 and as of yesterday the right headlamp has decided not to work. A warning light has popped up on my dash and it is the normal beam thats effected on the drivers side- ie. not my parking lights or my full beams, they are all working fine....so far! Im wondering is there a way I can change this myself without hauling the car along to a volkswagen dealership---I have neither the time nor the money to do this. Can I buy the bulb online and get my mechanic or a friend to replace it?? Also, is there any way to tell whether its the bulb or a fuse thats gone???

    Thanks everybody, much appreciated!!

If it was the fuse the rear light would gererally be out too. The bulb can be bought in a motor factors, they will probably fit it for you for free if it isn't raining and if you ask nicely.

Dont take it to a dealer for a bulb.. seriously???

You can buy a bulb in any motor factor, Halfords, i think some woodies even have a car section!!! Take you a few minutes to do it.. piece of piss!!!

But failing that halfords will change a bulb for 3euro or so.. prob total cost less than a tenner... Personally i wouldnt thrust a halforts staff member as far as i could throw them!! Surly you have a friend who can help!!!
