Limey Water...

I love tea, but I have moved to a new area recently where the water is really limey. It ruins the tea and I just can't drink it. So, I have started buying water and boiling that for my tea, but the strange thing is the tea still isn't right. Just wondering if there is any special type of kettle I can buy or filter to improve my tea? Thanks.

This is an easy one to fix....brita filter for the win. Makes a huge difference. Mineral water is full of minerals (and sometimes very salty!!) and tap water has the chlorine and the mineral content varies by area.

If you have loads of cash, a reverse osmosis system is the best, but they're expensive (300 euro plus). We've had our brita for years. Wouldn't ever go back.

You're probably just accustomed to the way the water tasted in the last place you lived.

What about trying a Brita filter? They're fairly cheap and are widely available.

No. The water is definitely limey. The first day I had a cup I thought that my girlfriend had put something in it as a joke.

I wasn't doubting that it's limey. It was the shop-bought water and the fact that "the tea still isn't right" I was referring too. I should have made myself clearer.

No problem. I love my tea and no matter where I drink it lately, it tastes much better than in my new apartment. I know it's not right.
