On a 3MB connection but only getting this tonight...

    Even poorer at times...

Was even higher only a minute before.

Trying to get on to a gaming server and getting ridiculous fluctuation in ping.
I moved the router w/phone base station (i.p phone) into another room earlier this evening [Dad wanted it moved away from other spot in living room, so we moved it into the small room].

Only things I can think of,.:

1// Problem with wiring (modem cable) going under the floorboards to the modem connection (eircom) in hall way. [Point B to Point C, the phone line panel]

2// Problem with modem wire going from the wireless router to Point B.

    3// External wiring. Eircom's cables.

4// Software issues...,i.e. viruses, firewall, etc

    5// Eircom's exchange...?

Are the pings still erratic this late at night? Or what about the afternoon in the day.

You should post some traceroutes to the gaming servers which would determine what hop(s) are causing the problems

You probably no this but you go into start run type "cmd" and then type

"tracert www.mygameserverhost.com" or whatever servers your using, can be a server IP also
