    Hi guys,

I have a site ready and waiting to be looked at by millions of internet users!! I want to own the website outright myself though, and am wondering where the best place to get this service from is??

Also what is the best cheapest web hosting out there??

I don't want to use places like 20m and geocities, as I want this to be my child and my child doesn't get neglected or abused! :)

    Thanks in advance.

Well, good luck getting a Geocities site these days.

    Also, this.

Dunno much about hosting but godaddy.com are probably the cheapest for .com and .co.uk domains, I think your options are a lot more restricted if you want a .ie though, they're all around €50 pa for the domain and there more difficult to get hold of

Cheers for the replies lads. Not too bothered about the .ie domain names, would be more interested in .org or .com so will have a shop around and see where I can get the cheapest one.

The .com will be a few bob less than a tenner, and hosting wil cost 40-100 a year depending on where you go and what you buy, assuming basic shared hosting. If you get millions of visitors, you'll need much better hosting, but you'll be able to pay for it with advertising revenue.

If I get 100 people hitting it in the year I'll be happy!! :)

I'll only need the very basic hosting, so will be hoping for around 40 or less.

I came across this site which seems well cheap. http://www.irishwebservers.ie/ Should I be cautious when buying doamin names and hosting or are the majority of sites safe enough? Is there any way of finding out which is genuine if there are dodgy ones out there??

Just do a google search on the company your thinking of using, usually if they are a complete con that information floats to the top of searches. Most are reputable though

Make sure they have tangible contact details ie. physical address + landline number
