Where can I learn to become a barber?

I have wanted to be a hairdresser for a while but salons I went to for apprenticeships said 'no', so I was looking for barber courses, it's really hard to search online to find courses or apprenticeships in that field, and I can't find a job anywhere because I havn't got much work experience.

I heard today about a six week course at Knights Barbers, but it costs 2 grand + 300 for equipment, I don't mind paying that money (even though I can barely manage at the moment) if it can help me get a trade, but I would need to know if they are any good first. I went to Knights Barbers in Grafton Street for a haircut about a year ago, don't know if the person who butchered my hair was a trainee or qualified but she was very rude and abrupt, I wouldn't want her teaching me.:(

I heard FAS help out with funds if you are unemployed but I don't know how much.

Has anyone dealt with Knights Barbers before? Is it worth the money? How much will FAS help with? Are there any other good places that offer barber/hairdressing courses in Dublin? Coz I can't find any.

Thanks, it looks really good, but the only problem is that it's a bit out of my way, is it easy to commute between there and Dublin?

Give Linda at the Waldorf Barbershop a call on 01 677 8608. She is running executive barber courses and she is an excellent teacher. The shop itself has exacting standards, which you learn on the course. They were recently featured on Exposé:
